Giving back where it matters: Supporting Lake Taupō Hospice with a fully compliant kitchen
At National Hood & Duct Cleaning, our work is grounded in safety, compliance, and protecting the people behind every commercial kitchen. But every so often, a project comes along that reminds us why we do what we do in a much bigger way.
When the opportunity arose to support Lake Taupō Hospice- specifically Izard House, it was one we didn’t hesitate to say yes to.
Hospices play a vital role in our communities, providing compassionate care and support to individuals and families during incredibly challenging times. Behind the scenes, their kitchens work hard every day to nourish residents, staff, and visitors. Like any commercial kitchen, maintaining a safe and compliant extraction system is critical but it’s not always where limited funding is best spent.
That’s where we stepped in.
Our team carried out a full extraction system clean, completely free of charge, ensuring the kitchen meets compliance standards and significantly reduces fire risk. From canopy and filters through to internal ducting and fan systems, we delivered a full-system clean and documentation required for 12A sign off, giving the team peace of mind that everything is operating safely and correctly.
For our General Manager Neil Farnworth, this was about more than just the technical work.
“We support the work hospices do in our communities, and we’re thrilled to give back in this small way. If we can remove one less thing for their team to worry about especially when it comes to safety and compliance, then that’s something we’re proud to stand behind.”
The impact of this work was felt immediately by the team on site.
Charlotte Lester from Izard House shared:
“National Hood and Duct Cleaning were excellent to deal with. Professional, strong communication and overall great customer service. I’d definitely recommend them for your extraction cleans and 12A sign off.”
For us this project reflects what National Hood is all about. Yes, we work with some of New Zealand’s largest facilities and hospitality operators but our commitment to safety, compliance, and doing the job properly doesn’t change depending on the size of the client.
Every kitchen deserves to be safe and every team deserves confidence in their systems.
And when we have the opportunity to support organisations doing meaningful, human work in our communities, we’ll always find a way to show up.
